Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) was established in 1998 for implementation of the Strategic Plan for Privatization of Power Wing of WAPDA, approved by the Council of Common Interest (CCI) in 1993. It was decided that WAPDA’s Power utility functions be separated and the Power Wing be unbundled and corporatized into DISCOs, GENCOs, and the NTDC.

Responsibilities under Desired Job
Support to SDO:
Assist the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) in the management and supervision of the electrical distribution network within the subdivision.
Carry out tasks assigned by the SDO, ensuring that technical work is completed on time and in accordance with PEPCO's standards.
Field Operations:
Supervise and participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of power lines, transformers, poles, and other electrical equipment.
Ensure that all work conducted by field teams adheres to safety protocols and PEPCO regulations.
Assist in addressing faults and outages in the electrical distribution network and ensure power is restored efficiently.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform routine inspections and maintenance of electrical systems to prevent faults or breakdowns.
Assist in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of electrical faults and ensure quick resolution to minimize downtime.
Report any major issues to the SDO and suggest solutions for improving system reliability.
Team Management:
Supervise linemen and technical staff during field operations, ensuring tasks are executed correctly and safely.
Provide guidance and support to junior staff and workers in the subdivision.
Customer Support:
Help address customer complaints related to power supply issues such as outages, voltage problems, or billing concerns.
Assist in providing technical support to customers when required and ensure timely resolution of their concerns.
Load Management:
Assist in monitoring and managing the load on the power network to prevent overloading and ensure balanced power distribution.
Coordinate with field teams to implement load-shedding schedules and communicate these to customers when necessary.
Documentation and Reporting:
Keep records of daily tasks, repairs, and maintenance activities, ensuring that documentation is complete and accurate.
Submit reports on field operations, outages, and repair work to the SDO for further action.
Help maintain an inventory of equipment and materials used in the subdivision.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that all electrical work is performed in compliance with NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) regulations and PEPCO’s internal policies.
Promote a culture of safety among field workers by enforcing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all safety protocols.
On-Site Inspections:
Conduct field inspections of power distribution systems and ensure that the infrastructure is functioning properly.
Identify potential issues or risks and report them to the SDO for preventive action.
Risk Management:
Assist in identifying and mitigating risks related to electrical infrastructure, such as aging equipment, faulty lines, or unsafe installations.
Respond quickly to emergencies such as power outages, storms, or accidents affecting the electrical network.
